FestivalForGood Conversation 7: Consume with Purpose: Towards Zero Food Waste

Description
Conversations is a series of talks and panel discussions as part of FestivalForGood 2020 on topics regarding the social enterprise sector, social impact, and doing good in Singapore. We hope to spread awareness about social enterprises and social issues in Singapore, as well as engage members of the public in meaningful discussions about how we can make Singapore a better place for all.

This conversation is organised as part of FestivalForGood 2020, Asia's largest celebration of Social Enterprises, and the social impact they created. More information on FestivalForGood can be found at https://www.festivalforgood.sg The virtual FestivalForGood is brought to you by raiSE, in partnership with DBS Foundation. Conversation 7: Consume with Purpose: Towards Zero Food Waste

According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), 763,000 tonnes of food waste was generated in 2018 (that’s equivalent to the weight of 54,000 double-decker buses!). This has increased by about 30% over the last decade. Globally, food waste has also been on an upward trend. Join us to find out how businesses and consumers can join hands to address this issue.

Who Will Be Speaking?

Moderator: Monica Datta - SVP, Sustainability & Partnerships, Group Strategic Marketing and Communications, DBS Bank

Nathaniel Phua, Founder & CEO, Ento Industries (a subsidiary of Tiong Lam Supplies)
Nathaniel seeks to transform the food industry through developing sustainable solutions for valorising food waste. Previously the Operations manager at Tiong Lam, Nathaniel oversaw waste management strategies for clients, and engaged in cost-saving process redesign for operations procedures. Thereafter, he assumed the role of Business Development Manager where he managed projects with the intent of increasing waste recycling activities and furthering Tiong Lam’s social cause of resource conservation. In 2020, with the help of Tiong Lam, Nathaniel founded Ento Industries, a company that utilises the abilities of insects to transform food waste into valuable, high-end feed ingredients for the Agriculture industry.

Terence Hon, Co-Founder, GreenPrice
